CYNICAL KILLERS MURDER IN SILENCE

Cynical

I focus on what I find shocking and inconceivable.
I am interested how it could happen that when a young attorney - Heinz Reinefarth – was involved in WW2, he ordered to annihilate 50 thousand children, women and men.
Just six years later, as Germany lost the war, he was offered the office of mayor of a posh seaside resort all citizens of which asserted he was a decent man and good landlord. He was never prosecuted.
Who were those who released him of any responsibility? Cynical killers murder in silence.
Often in the silence of private offices where blue smoke billows languidly from thick Havana cigars.

IMAGES ASK QUESTIONS

Images ask questions

I contract the above-mentioned Nazi criminal Heinz Reinefarth with such people as Diane Arbus, Klaus Kinski, Hannah Arendt or Siddhartha. They all have some histories behind them as well as other people with whom their fate confronted them. This makes them perfect examples to inquire into the condition of mankind. I feel this is what I am meant to deal with as an artist – through asking questions. Asking about who we are and do we really follow the right path. The inspiration as well as the very subject came from books, photographs, films and Internet, overlapping and penetrating each other.

DECLARATION
OF MY FAITH

Declaration of my faith

I believe there is a place in our days for painting seen as a field of art dealing with significant things. No matter how much superficial attraction there is in obtrusive screens, a painted picture constitutes some parallel reality in which one can immerse for some time. It simply stimulates people to think on their own.
